In preparing for the arrival of our 3rd child, new room assignments are being made.
Leah will be joining Jenna in her room. Opening up Leah's current room for the baby brother.
Jenna's room does not have an official closet, she has been using an armoire. Which has been great for housing one child's clothing but will not work for two girls worth of clothing :) So Chad got to work building a closet for the girls room. It is something we have always wanted to add to the house, just now had the incentive!
Here are some pics Chad took documenting the process--
Chalk lines (barely seen) marking out the space
framing up
Dry wall and mud--he added texturing to the walls after this step
New paint--ceiling and walls, along with new closet doors and shelving!
It looks great! We are really happy with how it turned out. My handyman husband did a terrific job :)
The whole process took just over a week, included were 2 consecutive morning to late night full Saturdays. We didn't see much of Chad during this time-- after work he would head upstairs and work, only coming down to eat dinner. Jenna slept in our room during this process, so that Chad was able to work well into the night.
Man was this ever the mess though. Chad decided to cut the wood and such up in the room so he wouldn't have to make multiple trips up and down to the garage. I swear we are still vacuuming up saw dust from the carpet!! I am glad the construction zone is all over though.
Now we've been reorganizing the room for two. It's been fun but it makes me sad to change Leah over from her crib into a big girl bed. We kept Jenna in her crib until she was closer to 3--until she figured out how to climb out. And I am remembering the pain of trying to get her to stay in her bed and room at night and during nap time. I am not ready for Leah's naps to go away or be compromised. She's not even 2!!! We will be making the official transition in the next couple of weeks, so wish us luck. I am trying to divide up the new changes coming. So my plan is to have the girls settled, sharing a room, by the time school starts. Hopefully giving us a few months in between before the baby arrives. Oh, it's exciting times around here!!
