Tender Moments

Jenna is asserting more and more independence these days, which has been good and bad.

One of the good things has been her nightly prayers, she doesn't want help anymore. Tonight she asked that the baby could come out of Lindsey's tummy happy and healthy, that she could have good dreams and no monsters. And my favorite, that it could be Chad's birthday so that we could go see her cousins Whitney and Sierra. I often tell Jenna about an upcoming trip way too early, I guess I get a little excited as well. We'll be visiting Chad's family for the 4th of July, which also coincides with his birthday. Jenna is so excited about seeing her cousins that she now asks every morning if that day is the day. I've tried showing her on the calendar how far away it is, or explaining that we have to wait for the weather to get warmer, silly I know. But without fail she includes it in her prayers and continues to ask in the morning!

Another little note: Chad and I rarely hear Mom and Dad anymore. She will write Chads name as Dad, but always asks me how to spell Lindsey. Sometimes I tell her M-O-M spells Lindsey and she just laughs. Just another little Jenna-ism that we love.

Spring Break in CA

I almost forgot to post pics of our trip to CA over spring break.
I didn't realize that it had been a few years since we had been down to Chads parents house. And this was the first time that it wasn't for a large family gathering. Jenna sure enjoyed the one on one time with her grandparents.
Jenna had her first dental check up with Grandpa Rick. It didn't last long, he was only able to do a quick look over and that was all she could handle. Funny girl!!
We enjoyed playing at the neighborhood park, yards games, playing in sand with Gma, and always a must In N out. One day we went for a boat ride on Gpa Rick's boat up the slough to the start of the San Francisco bay where the Mothball Fleet sits. Its a collection of ships from WW2 that are just anchored there, rusting over the years. I've seen them from the freeway before, but never this close up. It was a fun experience. The weather was beautiful too.
The guys went diving in the Monterey Bay as well. They even had some friendly seals join them. The girls did a little shopping, movie and learned to crochet flowers for hair clips.
Chads youngest brother Ryan and his wife Rachel, were also there that week. It was nice being able to spend more time with them too. Jenna just adores them, they are really sweet with her. We even got to celebrate Ryans birthday with him. Jenna was so excited to sing Happy Birthday to him. The card she made was too cute. Uncles and Aunts are so great!
All in all is was such a memorable trip for us, especially Jenna. She still talks about it. I am so grateful for such wonderful In Laws who take the time to get to know Jenna and our family.

Mod Podge Crazy!

Whats the jingle that goes "Once you start, you just can't stop"?

This was my day yesterday with Mod Podge.

I've been meaning to get a pregnancy journal, but I'm not in love with any at the bookstores. So yesterday I bought a plain journal at Walmart, used some scrap fabric I had laying around and went to work. I saw this on Makeitandloveit.blogspot.com and also from a friend. It was a lot of fun and now I have my pregnancy journal!

The inside is scrapbook paper, that is also mod podged.
Re-experiencing mod podge and the joys of it, I began to look around the house for other things I could mod podge. Enter Jenna's nightstand! Over the years it has gained a few glass rings from her nightly drink being left too long on it.
So, using the same previous scrap fabric (I have a weakness for green), Jenna's nightstand got a makeover. No more glass rings!

Maybe Mod Podge should adapt the slogan above of "Once you start, you just can't stop"!!

SISTER!!!

The profile ultrasound pics are my favorite. Jenna's favorite part of the ultrasound was hearing the babies heart beat. She kept asking if she could hear it again. After the Dr. appt. we took Jenna to pick out a toy for the baby. I think baby sister will love the bunny blanket (we actually bought two, one as a backup ).

When this came up on the ultrasound, Chad said "I don't see anything there". The tech agreed that everthing pointed to the baby being a girl. I love the words "looks like a girl" on the pic above, it just cracks me up. I couldn't stop laughing, picturing Chad with two little girls. He's going to be great. Chad said that this is Heavenly Fathers way of telling us we are not done having children, and that he hopes it doesn't take five girls to get a boy (like my parents)!!
Even after we found out the baby was a girl, Jenna would say that she would be ok if it was a boy. We would remind her that we had just found out the baby was going to be a girl and she excitedly said "I was right!"
Everything with the baby looked good and right on track for the original due date. I've mentioned this before, but I still have a sense of shock/suprise when I first see or hear the baby. I'm so grateful that we are able to be pregnant again. And have this sweet little spirit join our family. We are ALL excited to meet this little girl. Half way there!

Mission Completion

Now we just need different barstools. With the new overhang, the stools need to be a little shorter. But other than that we are loving the new location of the island and the new countertop.
Thanks to our good friend, Clark, for helping Chad carry the new piece inside and helping install it. I know Chad is strong, but the new top weighs over 200 lbs.!!
Hurray for our new eat in Kitchen :)

Easter Weekend

As mentioned in the previous post, Jenna and I headed over to Spokane for an early Easter weekend. Jenna remembered having an egg hunt at Gma Moore's last year and asked if we could have one again. So with that and My sister just having her baby, I thought why not go for a quick trip. We had a great time playing with cousins. The weather was playing tricks with snow one minute, hail the next and then sunshine. So whenever the sun was out the kids would all hurry and head outside to play :) We missed the cousins that were sick for the egg hunt, but Jenna still had fun finding the eggs with Connor. And no trip to Spokane is complete without Jenna getting her nails done. Grandma did a fantastic job, Jenna absolutely loves the little flowers and hearts.
Sat. afternoon, we headed back home in time to color eggs with Chad. My mom found the whisk idea for coloring eggs. I think it is one of the smartest things ever. Especially for little ones. Easter Morning the sun was shining and it was just a wonderful day. Jenna had fun finding the real eggs and plastic ones. The egg with her name on it she called "the message egg", it was pretty cute.
It was nice to watch General Conference on Easter Sunday. It gave us lots of opportunities to continue to talk with Jenna about the real meaning of Easter. Jenna is really at a great age for General Conference. She enjoys the popular printable packets, coloring the speakers tie, mazes and bingo. At one point during one of the talks, Jenna asked Chad "is he speaking to me?". and I love watching her listen to the Prophet speak. It makes him more real to her than just looking at a picture (if that makes sense).
Although it was a busy one, it was a very memorable Easter weekend!

Welcome Sydney Marie!

My sister Lexi and her husband Joe welcomed a little girl to their family on March 24.

Sydney Marie weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Talan is pretty darn sweet with her, always petting her head and giving her kisses. I'm sad I didn't get a pic of them together. That'll have to be during the next trip over.
Jenna and I just went over this last week to visit and meet baby Sydney.

She is just so sweet and has Lexi's dimples.
