Summer Reader

Jenna just finished the summer reading program from our Library!
A few weeks ago she enjoyed the halfway prize that was a coupon for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Its been fun passing off the different activites and attending the great Library programs. Jenna has been really into it. So today we visited the Library where she danced her completed paper to the Librarian and received a certificate and finisher prize.

The sweet finisher prize, an art kit. She of course had to try everything out for the rest of the evening.
We love reading!

Renton River Days '09

Even though we no longer live in Renton we still attended the Renton River Days Kids day. It has become a tradition for us and Jenna is enjoying it more the older she gets. They have lots of different booths and free activities for the kids. We went with our friends, the Singley's, but ran into many other Rentonian buddies. One of the main highlights was the Youth Circus performance. Tickets were only 1 dollar per person, quite the bargain for the entertainment. This was the first time we stayed for it. It was really fun and impressive. Other memorable events: winning an animal grabber at the IKEA booth, waiting close to 30 min. in the face painting line to have Jenna get nervous and end with a design on her hand, Balloon animals, the endless fun Junk Chimes, sitting in the SWAT vehicle, and most fun for me having Jenna fall asleep the whole ride home and remaining alseep after being transfered to the couch!
It was a great day!

Another new hobby

I couldn't leave that last pic at the top of the blog, so here is an easier one to look at :)
As if I needed a new hobby, I am hooked on stenciling. My sister in law, Sandra, first taught us at our family reunion in Tahoe. And then this last week, with my family, I decorated some T's for my nephew. I am having a lot of fun with it and continue to get more ideas.

visit from the Toothfairy??

This is not the prettiest picture so I apologize if it grosses you out.
Towards the end of our trip last week, Jenna took a pretty hard fall right on her face. She and my brother Connor were running around the cabin chasing eachother when she fell. She bashed up her gums pretty good and now her two front teeth are a bit woobly. She is doing a lot better now, despite still not being able to use her front teeth for chewing or biting. And her mouth is still pretty sore.
So after talking with my father in law, who is a Dentist, one of two things will happen. 1. Her teeth will tighten back up or 2. Her teeth will start to discolor and fall out.
I think you all know which one I am hoping for :) But so far everything seems to be healing and her teeth don't seem as loose. Time will tell.

This was taken right after it happened.
A little TMI, but as this is not Jenna's first fall, I am still amazed at how much mouths bleed. I actually got a little light headed. Thankfully my mom was there to help.
Something funny to end on: for the next few days when Jenna would get hungry she would ask "Can I have some soft food?"
Oh the adventures of parenting!

Moore Summertime fun

Some pics from our recent visit to Spokane and Spirit Lake, ID. As mentioned in the previous post, Jenna and I went on a little trip last week. It was my moms week for the cabin so we headed over to enjoy the water, beach and family.

We stenciled t-shirts for the kids.

Got to see more of my niece, Bailey

She is just so darn cute!

Painting with Brooklyn

Joe, Shannon & Dad ridin' Big Momma

Connor splashing in a mud puddle

Picking raspberries with Grandma and Great Grandpa. So yummy!
This is one thing I miss, fresh raspberries and homemade raspberry jam.
It was a great trip and we are looking forward to the big family reunion later this summer. Chad will get to come with us, so that will be even better.

Happy 1st Birthday Talan!

My Nephew Talan just celebrated his 1st birthday!
Jenna and I were over in Spokane last week and got to join in the celebration! We were all out at the Lake cabin and had a great time. Talan sure loved that frosting. He quickly had his whole face covered! Such a cutie.

I did it!

I accomplished my goal of running 2 5k's for the year. And man does it feel good :)
I really wanted to beat my last 2 finishing times and I did. My finishing time was 36:57, you can bet I pushed it to get that time under 37 min. (even if it was just by seconds)!
1st race 12-08: 42:07 min.--- 2nd race 6-09: 40:18
So again, I am no speed demon but I am improving and that is enough for me.
A few stats for me to remember: 1 mile-11:05, turn around half way point- 18 min.
Chad and Jenna were so supportive and woke up early to be there and cheer me on.
After the race, Jenna wanted to wear my number on her shirt, it was so cute. One of my fav. things about these fun runs are all of the families running together. It is so cute watching these moms and dads encouraging and giving running tips to their child running with them. I would love to have these fun runs become a family tradition, I will probably wait for Jenna to get a little older though.
Even though I have met my goal, I am not finished. I love working towards a race date and it keeps me more focused and motivated. I'd like to participate in the Christmas rush fun run again, like last year. So we'll see what happens!

4th of July

Our friends, the Tylers, joined us in celebrating. Good company, good food and great entertainment! What more could you ask for?
Jenna was her usual crazy self and loved the fireworks. The fireworks made sweet Riley nervous, but we were still able to get some smiles. Even little Blake enjoyed the sparklers. Chad's favorite part was when his altered picolo pete took a turn for our garage! Thankfully no damage was done!

Later we headed over to Lake Wilderness for a larger firework show. It was suprising really good. Jenna was all energy and then crashed the moment we got in the car to go home. Fun times!
There, I am finally all caught up :)

Happy birthday Chad!

I am still catching up on our pics! Chad celebrated his 31st birthday on the first of July.

Jenna and I made him an ice cream cake. Excuse the tin foil, we saved it to rewrap the cake :)
We love and appreciate all that you do for our family! Your the best!
Happy birthday handsome!

Jergensen Family Reunion

The last week of June we had our Jergensen family Reunion down at Lake Tahoe. We were only missing Chad's oldest sister Sunni, her husband and their 4 youngest kids. The youngest, Bryson, was born just a few days before the reunion!! We picked up their oldest 2 boys on our way down. So even though we missed the Wests, we were glad we got to see them for a few days before and after the reunion.
Here is a recap/highlights of our trip:
Sat. Day 1: corvette show and amazing pork sandwiches
Day 2: Fathers day, mini golf with the dads
Day 3: Guys day diving, free kids club (made necklaces, played games), bead store, cherades
Day 4: Girls day hike down to Emerald bay, Sprouts Cafe Mango-Limeade smoothy and ugly gooey nachos. Kids club (made egg carton creatures), watching the movie "Bolt" at the resort. Reno's Rodeo (a lot of fun), yummy ribs, big yellow fair slide.
Day 5: Beach Day at Sand Harbor beach on Lake Tahoe. Gorgeous! Playing in the water and sand. Tube rides and riding in Gpa's boat. More diving for the divers!
Day 6: Last time at the kids club (they painted on huge papers). Bike riding day. Nature walk/rest, in the middle of the bike ride. Ended with finding a great ice cream parlor!
Day 7: 2nd Beach day at Round Hill beach. More enjoying the views, sand and water. Jenna loved to be in that freezing water!

A big thank you to Rick and Lonna for organizing everything! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed being together with the family. One last highlight to mention was playing the card game "Scum" everynight after the kids went to bed. This has become a tradition that we just love!

Super Dad

Better late than never! Here is a pic from Fathers day. We were in Lake Tahoe for the holiday. We had a Jergensen family reunion there the last week of June (pics to come). It was a lot of fun.
Jenna and I made Chad's tie. Actually, as Jenna informed Chad, "Mom made it while I was outside playing" :) He was a good sport to wear it. I figured it was safe since we would never see those people in the ward we attended again.
You cant' really tell from the pic, but I added red glitter to the "S" symbol. I figured is was a nice touch from the girls in his life!
