Spokane trip

What do you do when your husband goes on a week and half long scuba diving trip to the Bahamas? Go visit your family of course!

I figured I'd upload my millions of pics from mine and Jenna's trip before the blog gets taken over by Chad's awesome scuba pics :)

Our trip was filled with celebrations. My sister Chelsea had her 20th bday, which we celebrated by stuffing ourselves with delicious Cafe Chulo food (I know I have said this before, but this place really is a must if you are in the Couer D'Alene area). Then Father's day, with awesome cakes made by Chelsea. This year we put together a photo book for my Dad. Before he opened it, he asked "is this going to make me cry?" We all answered Yes!! It was fun looking through it with him. Love you Dad :)

Next we had fun celebrating my Grandma Ogzewalla's birthday at classy McDonalds! I have to laugh because it was the only place we could take crazy little ones. It was still great spending time with my Grandma and having a girls lunch. My family also suprised Jenna and I with a little baby shower during our lunch. It was so sweet of them and we love and appreciate all of the gifts!

And no trip to Spokane is complete without a stop at Jump and Bounce, Baskin Robins (where Chelsea works), and staying up way too late chatting.

Thanks Mom and Dad for putting up with us while Chad was away!

Opposites

Baby update:

Yesterday I had an ultrasound to determine babies weight. As of now she weighs 4 lbs 11oz, which puts her in the 85th percentile!! I guess they get worried when they are above 90%, so I'll be having more ultrasounds in the future. The doctor was trying to figure out why I'd be having such a big baby, even asking my shoe size which I thought was funny.

But on the other hand, towards the end of my pregnancy with Jenna the Dr. said that she was over 8 lbs and she was 6 lbs 9 oz at birth. So I know that these things aren't an exact science.

Still, in the words of the Dr. yesterday "Your pregnancies couldn't be more opposite!"

A few notes of differences:

Baby is on track to be bigger

No gestational diabetes (Hallelujah)

Baby is incredibly active

Weight gain is, so far, less (next two summer months please be kind!)

Low iron with this pregnancy

The next hurdle will be to see if I get preeclampsia again.

Jenna was with me at the appt. yesterday and she couldn't be more excited. She proudly showed off the ultrasound pictures of her baby sister. She carried them around everywhere. I love her constant hugs and kisses to my belly. Jenna often talks to the baby, asking "how are you doing today? Did you sleep good?" and then will answer "Oh you did! You had a dream about unicorns (or princesses, dogs, it changes day to day)!"

One last note--Jenna was great during the longer appt. At one point she was sitting in the chair with her legs crossed and the Dr. commented on how girly Jenna was. This was in addition to Jenna carrying her hot pink purse in over her shoulder, with her matching hot pink shirt and hot pink shoes. So yes you could say Jenna is a girly girl.

Which makes me wonder what this baby girl will be like? We are all anxiously awaiting her arrival!

Preschool Graduation

Jenna graduated Preschool today!

Her teacher, Mrs. Debi, had an adorable graduation program prepared for the kids and their parents. The program had an underlining theme of the itsy bitsy spider (note the cute hats)! They each got called into the room by name, Mrs. Debi talked a little about the class and what they did over the year. She gave them their "diplomas"--the graduation flower and ribbon that had "Preschool Grad" on it.

Then the kids did a little performance of the itsy bitsy spider. If you can't see Jenna in that picture, its because she got her feelings hurt right before and lost any desire to participate. So yes, that is me sitting behind the wall with her, with only 1 successful attempt of getting her to pop her head up with the rest of the class. Oh well, such is life :) We still got some cute pictures of her!

We then, as a family, celebrated by going to lunch at Jenna's favorite restaurant, Red Robin.

The whole program was adorable and I can't believe Jenna is all done with preschool. Its been so fun to watch her grow and see all that she has learned over the last two years.

Maple Valley Days

We attended our first Maple Valley Days parade last weekend and were pleasantly surprised by all the events. We went with our friends, The Greenwood's and Alldredge's, minus our husbands who were at a Scout campout or working. And the weather was beautiful, so how could we not have an enjoyable time :)

Prior to the parade the kids had fun blowing bubbles, thanks JoLynn. Then during the parade the kids couldn't get enough of all the candy that was being passed out.
At times it seemed as if they were eating it as fast as they were collecting it!

After the parade we headed over to the park to check out the booths. We thankfully dodged the carnival rides, those are more of a Jenna and her dad thing. Over at the kids area, they had lots of fun free things to do. Popcorn, soda, a big blowup slide, games and most popular was the train ride.

I think we've found a new tradition, it was a great day and I have the sunburn to prove it.

What to do with those unused dinner napkins? Turn them into Kid aprons!

I received these dinner napkins as a gift and they have just sat in a closet, never used.

While at a friends house, I noticed her girls had a bunch of really cute craft aprons. They were all made out of dinner napkins. A very simple, cute idea!

Why I love this style:

The tie is one continuous piece, so the neck loop is adjustable.

And I just adore the large buttons attached to the end of the ties, so they can't be pulled out.

Want to make your own? Here's all you need:

A dinner napkin

Bias tape, for the ties--I used extra wide double fold, 1/2 inch.

2 large buttons

notes: I sewed the bias tape closed, down the side.

My ties are 62" inches long, but you can do whatever length you choose.

My to do list

Here is the latest thing to be crossed off my ever growing to do list.

I saw these on one of my fav. sites, www.makeit-loveit.com, and really wanted to make them as gifts plus a pair for my baby girl.

P.S. Jenna currently is playing with our set. She told me that she is taking care of them until the baby arrives :)

They were fun to make. That minky is a bit tricky to sew, but it was a good learning experience.

Now on to the next sewing project, Kid aprons from cloth dinner napkins.

Memorial Weekend part 2

Our little "Star!"

Jenna's class danced to "Twinkle, twinkle little star".

She was so excited to perform and did a great job. I did feel a little bad, as I watched the performance, I realized that there were a few changes to their dance that I wasn't aware of. So we had been practicing a different order at home. Poor girl seemed a bit confused at times, my bad :) None the less she still really enjoyed it! Then the whole dance group did a final number together called "Rocket Ship". As a performance gift we gave her an Angelina ballerina doll, who she loves, instead of flowers. This was her response "I thought I was getting flowers like all the other girls, but I didn't. I got this Angelina doll instead, and I'm so happy that I did!" She cracks me up :)

Thanks to the Reese family for coming, she was so happy you guys were there.

Up next, a summer Tap class. Jenna's already dancing around in her tap shoes!

Memorial Weekend part 1

This past Memorial weekend was a busy one. Since our school district didn't use any snow days this year, they made it a 4 day weekend! My sister Lexi and her family came over for the weekend. I didn't get any pictures of Jenna and Talan, but they had a great time playing together. Jenna also loved holding baby Sydney. It was fun having them over.

Jenna had her spring ballet recital that Sat. (pictures to come).

Then on Monday, we braved the rain and headed out to Dash Point beach for the day. When we arrived we were surprised with the sun replacing the rainy dark clouds. What a treat.

Jenna got to make the sand castle she was asking for all day, with help from her dad. Emily had a great time in the water and also digging in the sand.

It turned out to be a beautiful day.

I also added a picture from my bday, which was the next day. Chad surprised me with Trophy cupcakes, my favorite! Last year in my 20's :)

We found my old mp3 player and filled it with Jenna's favorite songs. She can't get enough of it!

Oh what do you do on a Saturday...

I was at yet another garage sale this morning. It's a bit of an obsession, I'm pretty sure I have been to a garage or consignment sale every weekend for the last month!

Here is Jenna enjoying one of the "treasures" I found today.

Jenna puts the guitar on and says "Lets rock out Mom" and proceeds to play and does a crazy dance around the house.

And here is what Chad did today, while I was away.

With the help of a friends nail gun, thank you Brett, Chad was able to put this together in no time. This is the closet in the babies room. We wanted some kind of organizer and my wonderful husband being who he is wanted to make it. I think it turned out great and can't wait to start filling it with baby clothes. Oh and I have to mention that Jenna got to help as well. She helped paint the shelves and was pretty excited about it. She now can't wait to help paint the babies room. But that will have to be another Saturday :)

More like her Mother everyday

It's no secret that I have a spazy side (how do you even spell that?)

For Chad, it's one of my love/hate qualities :) One that Jenna is developing more and more everyday. I haven't decided yet if it's a good or bad thing and for who?

Today I had one of those "you are just like me" moments. I asked Jenna a question and she sang her answer back to me, in her silliest singing voice. It was pretty hilarious, and now with another girl soon to join the family....well, let's just say we (Chad) are in for quite the adventure!
